FlipSide Guide 08/29/13: Live plays Grand Prix of Baltimore; Hanover Chili Cookoff; Labor Day events

Festivals and fairs:
– The 37th annual Blue Mountain Gospel Festival runs through Sunday at the Lebanon Valley Expo Center, 80 Rocherty Road, Lebanon. Jason Crabb will headline with a concert 6 p.m. Sunday. [Daily reserved festival tickets are $25 for adults and $5 for ages 2 to 12]
– Check out three area art events that have become Labor Day weekend traditions: Harrisburg’s annual Kipona Wine, Art and Blues Festival runs noon to 9 p.m. through Monday at Riverfront Park. The 35th Annual Long’s Park Art & Craft Festival is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Sunday at Long’s Park, 1441 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster. For details, visit www.longspark.org. The Heart of Lancaster Arts and Craft Show is 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Sunday at Market Grounds of Root’s, 705 Graystone Road, Manheim.
The Labor Day Festival at Kiwanis Lake runs 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the lake, North Newberry Street and Parkway Boulevard, York. It will include a flea market, fishing derby, parade, food, games and entertainment. Festivities end at 8 p.m. with a fireworks. [Free]
– Enjoy rides, games, exhibits and food as the Dover Firemens Fair, which kicks off 4 p.m. Saturday at 30 Canal St., Dover. The fair is closed Sunday, but will continue Monday through Sept. 7.

On stage:
– TV host, magician and comedian Justin Willman will perform 8 p.m. Friday in the Waldner Performing Arts Center at York College, 441 Country Club Road, Spring Garden Township. [Campus Activities Board is hosting the show; for details, call 717-815-1473]
– York rockers in Live are marrying music and fast cars with a concert 6 p.m. Saturday at the Grand Prix of Baltimore. [General admission to the Grand Prix is $5 to $65, which includes entertainment]
– Moon Dancer Vineyards & Winery, 1282 Klines Run Road, Lower Windsor Township, presents a Salute to Soldiers Benefit Concert featuring several regional bands 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday [$10 in advance; $12 at the door; proceeds benefit Wounded Warriors]
– Fore! York County native playwright Ken Ludwig’s country club farce “Fox On The Fairway” plays 8 p.m. Saturday at Rainbow Dinner Theatre, 3065 Lincoln Highway East, Paradise. Dinner starts at 6:30 p.m. [$54, with discounts for groups]

Food and wine:
– Attend Art at the Winery 11 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Hauser Estate Winery, 410 Cashtown Road, Biglerville. The Adams County Arts Council plans to have art, music and food at the art show and sale. [Various art classes will be available for $15]
– Smell that spicy aroma? No? Well then head to The 18th Annual Hanover Chili Cookoff 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Good Field Complex, North Forney Avenue, Hanover. [$8.50 in advance, $10 at the gate and free for kids 12 and younger and active military with ID]

Out and about:
– The Annual Show at Steam Engine Hill runs through Monday at the Williams Grove Historical Steam Engine Association Show Grounds on Williams Grove Road in Mechanicsburg. [$3 per person or $9 per carload]
– Shop for antiques and collectibles 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday during The Original York Antiques Show at the York Expo Center, Memorial Hall East, 334 Carlisle Ave., West Manchester Township. [$10 admission]
– Don’t miss a beginner-friendly Leisurely Lakeshore Paddle Tour 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Shank’s Mare, 2092 Long Level Road, Lower Windsor Township. [$21 to $13 for members; $24 to $15 for nonmembers; register at 717-252-1616]
The ZOOperstars are coming to York. See them Friday as the York Revolution take on the Long Island Ducks 6:30 p.m. at Sovereign Bank Stadium, 5 Brooks Robinson Way, York. There will also be a trucker hat giveaway. Saturday is Youth Football Night and Wedding Night. The Sunday afternoon game features a stadium replica giveaway and team autograph session. [Tickets cost $8 to $14]
– Experience the excitement of sprint car races 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Lincoln Speedway, 800 Racetrack Road, Abbottstown. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. The evening will end with a fireworks display. [$15 for adults; $10 for students; $2 for ages 6 through 11; free for children 5 and younger]
